If ever there was a jury to be out, the jury is out on this one. Good or bad? Harmless or pointless? Worthy or scurvy? etc.
If you aren't from the UK, McFly are a "boy band" who sound a bit indie, but quite frankly aren't the real deal. However someone likes them as they've had 4 UK number one singles in the last 18 months.
a. They obviously like the song otherwise they wouldn't cover it (even bad people have good taste), and; b. As a result, they're trying their best, and it's clearly not good enough!
my 12 year old neice is a huge mcfly fan i think that says it all...they are just one of the huge no of job lot beefcake for young chicks,,,,,,thanks for letting me hear them so i can impress my neice by at least saying i now have heard the band....instatly forgettable,,come back gareth gates...
hey, i like mcfly. they're lovely. they are my guilty pleasure. other than that my favourite bands are sex pistols, buzzcocks, clash, sham69, the skids etc. you get the picture. but yeah, i like them, they're just cute! x

As a singer and songwriter of a similar vain to David Ford and Damien Rice and a huge fan of bands such as Rage Against The Machine, Metallca, Megadeth, Motorhead, Funeral For A Friend (to name but a few) I think a little more respect for McFly is in order. They are very talented young men, can all play and write their own stuff and still manage to sell out venues like Wembley before they're even 20. Those 'out of tune bits' are called harmonies and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a band that can go into the live lounge and cover a very famous, very popular song by a very established band and be note perfect, if for the nerves alone. Some of you need to get a clue about music before judging people far more successful than yourselves...

Ok, dougies buff, dannys cute, but still! its hilarious. I luv da song. i no deyr not da best @ live acts, but so wot? bet most of da ppl on here cudn't do it ne beta! even if u say u wudn't try, give dem sum respect 4 trying! being brave isn't 2 bad... & deyr version of pinball wizard is wicked! i no ppl hu h8 mcfly, but luv deyr version of pinball. i mean, deyr sweet, rnt dey? even wrld record holders...
How can anyone say that McFly are rubbish?! They'r great! They can sing so well live, too, and lots of singers/bands are really bad live. And i know that they sound good live cuz i've been to one of their concerts and they sounded amazing<3! They write their own songs as well: catchy, meaningful, wonderful songs, which are so much better than those screamo bands where you can't even hear what they r singing because they r basically just screeching.
Oh yeah, and they play their own instruments, unlike some people. I think that their version of I Predict a Riot AND Mr Brightside both sound very good and the Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers probably find it flattering that McFly chose to sing their songs, when they cud've chosen any other bands.
I think the fact that mcfly have had SEVEN number ones proves a lot of you very, very wrong. These guys are AMAZING, and okay, so they don't appeal to everyone, but they certainly appeal to a lot of people! And how old am i? Not 12, not 13, not 14, not 15, not 16, no i'm 17 and i know a hell of a lot of people my age and older who LOVE mcfly. they just don't admit it because people like you insist on making them seem uncool. They rock, and some people just need to accept it.
