The Dead 60s at the Electric Ballroom

Another band whose album was good, but who are outstanding live. The kids (and the older kids like me) obviously agree; last night's show at the Electric Ballroom in Camden was a sell out, with 1,300 tickets sold, and a real mix of teens, 20 somethings, 30 somethings, and God knows whats, and unlike the reports I heard for Hard Fi's recent chavtastic perforamnce, it was good-natured too. All a bit different from the new bands tent at the V Festival in Chelmsford last year, when only about 100 people bothered to come in and see them. As then and now, the sound is fantastic as well as the live performance itself.

They don't really say a lot, they're just drunk on power and give the occasional "Come on, LONDONNNN!" It sounds to me that they're trying to hide their Scouse accents but every time I see the singer I still think of Red Dwarf. The Electric Ballroom holds a special place in my heart too as the last time I was there was for the fantastic Kenickie supported by the absolute madcap EARL BRUTUS, possibly the best support band I have ever seen.

Back to last night ... I was *extremely* near the front as you can see from this random pic. So close in fact that I managed to capture a rather reasonable video too.
