It's a punky bubble dream, Christmas bubble gum machine
Because it's Christmas AND I haven't contributed much lately AND I have just seen one of the best, if not the best gig of my life, here are some Christmas presents courtesy of the Sultans of Ping's recent shows in Dublin and Belfast. I drove over from the badlands of Essex to take in a bit of Irish Christmas spirit (and boy did that go well) and I also had the opportunity to drink the band's champagne and beer on two separate occasions. What more can I say!
And while I am doing my darndest not to turn this blog into a wholly Sultanseque affair, I can't help going on about them because I waited nearly 10 years to see them AND I've seen them 3 times now in just over a month AND they are BETTER than EVER. Novelty band my arse. I'm also featuring a video from another excellent Cork rock band, Rulers of the Planet. The clip doesn't really do them justice, they put on a fantastic high-energy performance live.
Videos from the Belfast and Dublin shows at the weekend:
It's a punky bubble dream, Christmas bubble gum machine It's a cosmic loving bubble revolution It's a teenage bubble scene Christmas bubble gum machine It's a plastic bubble rock and roll solution Oh yes, they didn't play that one but it's one of the great Christmas songs of all time, and at 98 seconds it won't drain too many resources on your attention at this busy time of year.
